Dear SSCDC Families,
The orange Playdough has been enjoyed throughout the week. Playdough is a great way to re-direct and regulate the children’s energy. The sensory feeling of manipulating it sends the energy out of thier body through their hands and into the playdough as they us it. They focus on what they are making and become calm. It is also social as they show each other their ideas.
Spider playdough is a wonderful fine motor activity. Small plastic spiders are put in the playdough (we counted them out) and then they can pull them out with their fingers or use the children’s tweezers.
These “learning by play” activities help to strengthens the fine motor muscles in the hands as a pre-writing activity.
