St. Stephen’s Child Development Center (SSCDC) is a private, non-profit community preschool established to serve both you and your child year-round. We welcome families of all faiths and cultural backgrounds. Your child is entering an exciting time of growth and discovery. SSCDC provides developmentally appropriate individualized curriculum, teaching to each child’s learning style.
SSCDC offers teacher-directed and emergent child-centered activities through play and discovery. Our teachers are trained observers who teach to each child’s individual needs and interests. Our small class sizes, 1:6 teacher-child ratio, provide for a nurturing environment while building a solid academic foundation that is well-rounded and fosters love for learning.
Visit us in Santa Cruz by calling for a private tour appointment. Tours are scheduled 11:00am -12:30pm, however alternate times can be requested. Children are encouraged to tour with their parent in order to explore the environment. Call Kathy Berens at (831) 462-4453 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
We look forward to meeting you!
SSCDC reopened on August 3, 2020 to serve currently enrolled families in a single cohort of 14 students, with 3 teachers plus the director/teacher. We are following Community Care Licensing, Center of Disease Control, Santa Cruz Public Health, and Santa Cruz City Schools directives and guidelines to provide sanitation protocols, while facilitating social experiences for young children that are developmentally appropriate. We are a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association and have been communicating with schools across the country to share information as we navigate Covid-19.
