About St. Stephen’s Child Development Center (SSCDC) Preschool

St. Stephen’s Child Development Center (SSCDC) is a private, non-profit community preschool established to serve both you and your child year-round. We welcome families of all faiths and cultural backgrounds. Your child is entering an exciting time of growth and discovery. SSCDC provides developmentally appropriate individualized curriculum, teaching to each child’s learning style.

Our Program

SSCDC offers teacher-directed and emergent child-centered activities through play and discovery. Our teachers are trained observers who teach to each child’s individual needs and interests. Our small class sizes, 1:6 teacher-child ratio, provide for a nurturing environment while building a solid academic foundation that is well-rounded and fosters love for learning.

Visit us in Santa Cruz by calling for a private tour appointment. Tours are scheduled 11:00am -12:30pm, however alternate times can be requested. Children are encouraged to tour with their parent in order to explore the environment. Call Kathy Berens at (831) 462-4453 or email for details.
